Chris had the absolute honour of giving a talk at Edinburgh’s wonderful La Belle Adventure—a bookshop that is nothing short of magical. This amazing space features an extensive collection of graphic novels, not only in English but also in French, making it a vibrant hub for the community. Beyond being an outstanding shop, La Belle Adventure also functions as a gallery and provides a cozy space for reading and engagement.

During the event, Chris had the pleasure of engaging in a conversation with Iain Gardner, an accomplished director and a longtime friend. Together, they explored storytelling and direction, offering attendees an insightful and entertaining discussion. The atmosphere was lively, thanks to the warmth and dedication of the shop’s owners, Annabelle and Benoit. It was a special time.

The shop has also become a unique space for language learning, with many visitors using French graphic novels to expand their vocabulary. It truly lives up to its name—a “beautiful adventure.”

Special thanks go to everyone who attended the talk, including Ken Anderson, Nichola Dobson and Jared Taylor from the Edinburgh School of Art. Chris also signed copies of their book, Anfield Road, for the audience. Signed copies are still available at La Belle Adventure, so don’t miss out—be sure to visit and pick one up!
