I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who came to our Bar Shorts Anfield Road book launch. I had the absolute pleasure of sharing the stage with comedy legend Alexei Sayle. You can see from the photos that I’m laughing my cake off on every picture.
I’d like to thank Alexei for his support and for writing the forward for my book. We screened Willy Russell’s 1977 TV play Our Day Out. This is as relevant today as it was 47 years ago. Thanks to Willy Russell for giving permission to screen it and for Annie Russell for coming along with Cathy and Rachel from Negus-Fancey. Also big thanks to Dave Anderson as ever. Plaudits to the Garden Cinema, Molly, Patrick and Ryan who stormed it! Also a massive thanks to Lorraine Walters and to Richard Wolff, Michael Jones, Andrew Sumner and Tim Searle who took the photos.
Bar Shorts will return in February 2025.
