You will all know how I love music. I’ve always wanted to create artwork for an album and now my chance has come with Gustaffson’s new project. Gustaffson’s album Black and White Movie is a creative project that blends music with visual art. The album is available in various formats, including CD and a limited edition black-and-white vinyl LP.
One unique feature is the inclusion of limited edition prints. These prints are based on ten designs contributed by actors, directors, and screenwriters, such as Adeel Akthar, Daniel Inge and Chris Shepherd. Each pre-order of the album includes a randomly selected print, signed by the band. Additionally, there is an exclusive bundle that offers one of each print, along with a signed poster and other goodies. Chris’s print is inspired by their song Champagne Socialist.
Gustaffson is a band formed by Liverpool-born actor and musician Andrew Gower, alongside his lifelong friend and guitarist James Webster (known as Webbo). The band came together in 2020, blending Gower’s soulful vocals with Webster’s guitar prowess. Gustaffson’s music is characterized by its storytelling and emotional depth, drawing from their shared experiences and creative synergy.
Their debut EP, The Jacaranda, was recorded at the iconic Blueprint Studios in Manchester with producer Craig Potter from the band Elbow. Released in 2022, the EP gained significant attention, including airplay on BBC Radio and recognition as Record of the Week on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour.
The band has continued to evolve, expanding to include additional members and releasing singles like Northern Baby and Champagne Socialist. Their debut album, Black and White Movie, recorded in January 2024, features collaborations with Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary and actor Sir Ben Kingsley.
