Join acclaimed writer, artist, and BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Chris Shepherd for an exclusive event at La Belle Adventure! Fresh off the success of his debut graphic novel Anfield Road—named The Observer’s “graphic novel of the month”—Chris will sit down with Iain Gardner to dive into this darkly funny, heartfelt tale of 1980s Liverpool, football, and teenage dreams. Expect an engaging discussion about the creative process and the journey from page to possibility.
Iain Gardner is a Scottish animator, director, and writer based in Edinburgh, Scotland, known for his work in traditional hand-drawn animation and his contributions to the animation industry. Born in Glasgow, he developed a passion for animation early in life, which led him to a distinguished career spanning over two decades. His 2023 Scottish-Polish co-production A Bear Named Wojtek won the British Animation Award for Best Long Form Film in 2024.
This intimate session offers a rare chance to hear from storytelling masterminds in a vibrant Edinburgh setting. Whether you’re a fan of graphic novels, film, or simply great stories, this is not to be missed!
